Lecture at the JAIF International Cooperation Center (JICC)

Naoaki Okuzumi, Senior Manager of IRID’s R&D Strategy Planning Department gave a lecture on "Current Status of Technology Development towards Fuel Debris Retrieval Conducted by IRID" at the JICC Infrastructure Seminar (a subsidy project of nuclear power infrastructure development granted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry), which was held in Tokyo on February 12, 2018.

At the lecture, Mr. Okuzumi described the status of the investigation inside the primary containment vessel (PCV), repairing technology of the PCV, and research and development for fuel debris retrieval.

This seminar was attended by fifteen people from Turkey, Poland, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Malaysia, Thailand, UAE, Mexico, Brazil, and others, where nuclear power stations have been or will be implemented in the future. The audience listened to the lecture with keen interest. During the Q&A session after the lecture, the audience asked questions about fuel debris, including a plan to obtain data in addition to the radiation dose and temperature.
