The International Conference on Recovery After Nuclear Accidents: Radiological Protection Lessons from Fukushima and Beyond was held online and organized by the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) and hosted by the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) from December 1–4, 2020.

At the conference, keynote lectures focusing on the decommissioning of the nuclear power station (NPS) were provided by representatives from organizations related to the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi NPS. Mr. Toyoaki Yamauchi, the president of the International Research Institute for Nuclear Decommissioning (IRID), delivered a lecture as a representative of IRID. He presented the development status of fuel debris–collecting technology for the Fukushima Daiichi NPS. Over 190 attendees from all over the world listened to his lecture with much interest.

IRID will continue providing opportunities to a wide variety of people for introducing research developments into the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi NPS.
