Booth Display at the Robot & Aerospace Festa Fukushima 2021: Introduction of Research Development and Technologies for Decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (November 19 and 20, 2021)

The International Research Institute of Technology for Nuclear Decommissioning (IRID) exhibited a booth display at the Robot & Aerospace Festa Fukushima 2021, which was held on November 19 and 20, 2021.

Despite registration restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, approximately 4,500 people, including enthusiasts and families, visited the Robot & Aerospace Festa Fukushima 2021 over the two days (according to the website of the organizer, Fukushima Prefecture). The IRID booth also attracted many people who are interested in the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (NPS).

The IRID booth featured panel exhibitions on the status of the research and development (R&D) being conducted by IRID for the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi NPS. Additionally, many visitors were attracted to the video streaming of a submersible investigation robot that is being developed currently and of a robot arm that was developed in U.K. and is being studied in Japan.

To promote a better understanding of the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi NPS, booklets titled “The Important Stories on Decommissioning 2021,” issued by the Agency of Natural Resources Energy (ANRE), were distributed among visitors.
