Booth Display at The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers Annual Meeting 2022: Introduction of Research Development and Technology for the Decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (September 11-14, 2022)

The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME) Annual Meeting 2022 was held at the Gofuku Campus of Toyama University from September 11 to 14, 2022. The International Research Institute for Nuclear Decommissioning (IRID) exhibited a booth display at the meeting.

The following website provides the details of the event (only in Japanese).

IRID booth featured panel exhibitions on the status of research and development (R&D) being conducted by IRID for the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (NPS). Many participants in the meeting were attracted by the video footages of a submersible investigation robot that has been under development as well as a robot arm that was developed in UK and is currently being tested in Japan.

Additionally, the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy published an annual booklet titled “The Important Stories on Decommissioning 2022” to provide a deep understanding on the current decommissioning status of the Fukushima Daiichi NPS. These booklets were distributed among visitors.
