Asian Youth Nuclear Symposium 2022: Lecture by Mr. Naoaki Okuzumi, Senior Manager of R&D Strategy Planning Department (July 10, 2022)
The Asian Youth Nuclear Symposium, hosted by the Japan Atomic Energy Commission of the Cabinet Office, was held online on July 10, 2022. At the symposium, Mr. Naoaki Okuzumi, Senior Manager of the R&D Strategy Planning Department of the International Research Institute for Nuclear Decommissioning (IRID), delivered a lecture titled “R&D Status by Industry.”
This symposium was conducted for the second time. It provided an opportunity to exchange opinions regarding various nuclear topics from young nuclear researchers and engineers in Japan and Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam, over two days.
The lecture included topics such as the status of investigation inside the primary containment vessel for the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station and development of technology for the retrieval of fuel debris. Over 100 participants attended the lectures with a keen interest.
