Booth Display at the Robot Aerospace Festa Fukushima 2023: Introduction of Robotic Technology Development for Decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi (November 22 and 23, 2023)
The Robot Aerospace Festa Fukushima is an exhibition to display robotic and aerospace technologies, which is participated by related companies and organizations inside and outside of Fukushima Prefecture. Fukushima Prefecture has organized the event annually since 2015.
The Robot Aerospace Festa Fukushima 2023 was held on November 22 and 23, 2023 without any restrictions on entry owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and crowded with lots of visitors. The International Research Institute for Nuclear Decommissioning (IRID) has exhibited a booth display each year since the first Robot Aerospace Festa Fukushima in 2015 and introduced results of research and development (R&D) for the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (NPS), mainly robotic technology conducted by IRID.
The IRID booth featured panel exhibitions on the status of R&D for the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi NPS and robot development, and video viewing of a submersible boat-type access equipment and a robot arm jointly developed with a UK company. Many people across various generations including primary school students and adults visited the IRID booth and asked the research results and the current situation of the decommissioning with keen interests. We realized that the visitors were highly interested in the decommissioning.
To promote a better understanding of the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi NPS, a booklet “The Decommissioning and Future” published for a young generation by the Agency of Natural Resources Energy (ANRE), were distributed among visitors.
