Tetsuo Kotoku, Deputy General Manager of IRID R&D Strategy Planning Department gave a lecture titled “Robot Technology for Nuclear Decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station” at the 2nd Workshop on Robotics and Automation in Nuclear Facilities during 2015 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems on October 2, 2015.

This workshop was intended to provide a forum for exchange between researchers and users of robotics and automation technologies in nuclear facilities. This was the second workshop, following the first one in Tokyo in 2013.
On the day, speakers from six countries—the U.S., France, the U.K., Italy, Switzerland and Japan—gave 14 lectures. The workshop included the introduction of robot technology being developed at various nuclear facilities and discussions about technical challenges associated with the development.
