Naoaki Okuzumi, Senior Manager of R&D Strategy Planning Department, Gives Speech at the 26th Polymer Materials Forum

The Society of Polymer Science Japan 26th Polymer Materials Forum was held on November 16-17, 2017. At the Forum, Naoaki Okuzumi, Senior Manager of R&D Strategy Planning Department gave a special lecture on “The Status of IRID’s Technology Development towards the Decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.” The lecture covered the investigation of fuel debris inside the reactor, and the status of research and development for fuel debris retrieval, which are being conducted by IRID. At the end of the lecture, he emphasized cooperation with the Society of Polymer Science and the expected role, as knowledge and application of materials are essential for development. Over 100 people in academia and industry attended, and the audience listened intently to the lecture. The Forum also featured panel exhibitions for the activities of IRID, videos as well as the submersible robot mock-up (provided by Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings).
