Lecture by Mr. Kiyoshi Oikawa, Director of IRID, entitled “International Workshop on the Use of Robotic Technologies at Nuclear Facilities” (Feb. 3, 2016)

On February 2-4, 2016, Mr. Kiyoshi Oikawa, Director of IRID, delivered a lecture entitled “R&D on Robots for the Decommissioning Fukushima Daiichi NPS” during the session “Practices, Lessons Learned and Challenges of Robot Deployment at Fukushima Daiichi” in “International Workshop on the Use of Robotic Technologies at Nuclear Facilities” held in Gaithersburg, USA. Also, Mr. Oikawa participated in a panel discussion as a panelist.

This workshop was intended for people engaged in R&D in the industrial world, government sectors, universities, etc. Participants exchanged opinions on the applicability of robots to nuclear facilities and also shared technological knowledge etc. obtained by applying robots to the Sellafield in UK and the Fukushima Daiichi in Japan, etc.
