Naoaki Okuzumi, Senior Manager of the R&D Strategy Planning Department, delivered a lecture entitled “Status of the International Research Institute for Nuclear Decommissioning’s (IRID) Research and Development (R&D) for Fukushima Decommissioning” at the Conference on Fuel Debris Characterization 2018 (ConFDec2018), held at the Iwaki Business Innovation Center (LATOV) on November 5, 2018, in cooperation with the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). The conference was conducted in English.

In the lecture, he provided an overview of the present status of the R&D related to fuel debris retrieval.

The lecture was attended by approximately 40 people, including specialists and researchers from various countries. In addition, presentations were provided by research institutes, such as the Nuclear Damage Compensation and Decommissioning Facilitation Corporation (NDF), Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) Holdings, Inc., the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the National Nuclear Laboratory (U.K.), the Idaho National Laboratory (U.S.), and the V.G. Khlopin Radium Institute (Russia).
